- Identity and contact details: your name, job title, organisation, email address, phone number and LinkedIn profile.
- Enquiry and booking details: what you tell us when you contact us, complete a form or book a meeting, including the date and time of any appointment.
- Engagement information: notes, workshop materials, reports, correspondence and other information created while we work with you or your organisation.
- Financial information: billing details, invoices and payment records. We do not store card details.
- Technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit on our website.
- Marketing preferences: whether you want to hear from us and how.
We do not intentionally collect special category information (such as health data) or information about criminal convictions. Please do not send us this kind of information unless we ask for it for a specific reason.
3. How we collect it
- Directly from you, when you email us, complete a form, book a call, attend a workshop or work with us.
- From your organisation, when it engages us and shares your details so we can deliver our services.
- From public sources, such as Companies House, LinkedIn and company websites.
- Automatically, when you use our website, through server logs and, where you agree, cookies.
4. How we use it and our lawful bases
We only use personal information where the law allows us to. The table below sets out what we use it for and the lawful basis we rely on.
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Responding to enquiries and arranging intro calls | Legitimate interests (responding to people who contact us), or taking steps at your request before entering a contract |
| Delivering workshops, advisory, coaching and admin services | Performance of a contract, or legitimate interests where the contract is with your organisation |
| Invoicing, accounting and tax records | Legal obligation and performance of a contract |
| Keeping in touch with business contacts and sharing relevant updates | Legitimate interests, and consent where PECR requires it (see section 5) |
| Running, securing and improving our website | Legitimate interests, and consent for any non-essential cookies |
| Using client testimonials and case studies | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Complying with the law and establishing or defending legal claims | Legal obligation and legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether those interests are outweighed by your rights and freedoms. You can ask us for more detail. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Marketing
We may send occasional updates about our services to business contacts where it is relevant to their role. If you are an individual or sole trader, we will only email you with marketing if you have agreed to it, or if you are an existing client and we are telling you about similar services.
Every marketing email includes a simple way to unsubscribe, and you can also opt out at any time by emailing hello@fryerconsulting.com. We will never sell your information.
6. Cookies and third-party services
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use strictly necessary cookies to make our website work. We will only use analytics or other non-essential cookies with your consent, which you can give or withdraw through our cookie banner at any time. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
Our website uses some third-party services. When you book a meeting, you use Google Calendar’s appointment booking page, and Google’s privacy policy applies to the information you provide there. Our website may also load fonts from Google. Links to LinkedIn and other websites are subject to those websites’ own privacy policies.
7. Who we share it with
We only share personal information where necessary, and with people who must keep it secure and confidential:
- Service providers who support our business, such as website hosting, email and productivity tools, calendar and scheduling, CRM and accounting software.
- Associate consultants and specialists, such as the CROs, CMOs and other experts we work with on client engagements, under confidentiality obligations.
- Professional advisers, such as our accountants, lawyers and insurers.
- Authorities and regulators, such as HMRC, where the law requires it.
- A buyer or successor, if our business is sold or restructured, under appropriate protections.
Our service providers act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
8. When we act for our clients
When we provide admin support or other services that involve handling our clients’ own records, such as expenses, travel bookings, accounting data in QuickBooks or company filings, we usually act as a processor on our client’s behalf. In that case we only use the information on our client’s documented instructions, under a written agreement, and our client’s own privacy notice explains how that information is used. Please contact the relevant organisation with any questions.
9. International transfers
Some of our service providers store or access information outside the UK. Where this happens, we make sure the transfer is protected: for example, by transferring to a country the UK recognises as providing adequate protection, or by using the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it:
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to 2 years after our last contact.
- Client and contract records: 6 years after the engagement ends, to meet legal, tax and insurance requirements.
- Financial records: 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to.
- Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe. We keep a minimal record of opt-outs so we do not contact you again.
After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.
11. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls, multi-factor authentication, encrypted connections and reputable, secure service providers. Access is limited to people who need it. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the ICO where the law requires us to.
12. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erase your information in certain circumstances.
- Restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances.
- Object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
- Data portability, to receive information you gave us in a reusable format, where we rely on consent or contract.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email hello@fryerconsulting.com. There is normally no charge. We may need to confirm your identity, and we will respond within one month, or tell you if we need longer because your request is complex.
13. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first at hello@fryerconsulting.com so we can try to put it right. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113. If you are in the European Economic Area, you can also contact the data protection authority in your country.

Keeping your information accurate. Please let us know if your details change during your relationship with us.
