Kitchen Countertop Receptacles

While there is no requirement to upgrade the countertop receptacles in an older kitchen unless remodeling or renovation is undertaken, we recommend it as a prudent safety upgrade. All of the receptacles serving kitchen countertops should be the GFCI type, or GFCI protected.

Countertops that are 12 inches or greater in width should be provided with a receptacle. Other contemporary requirements are outlined in the images below:
